Getting the bike out today and had few problems getting her on centre stand , I have a weak right leg and back problems. Is there anything I can use to help me get it straight (bike , not me ) . I have hurt both leg and back . I have had her for years and don't want her to go . Any help would be appreciated. Geno .

If you're happy you've got your centre stand technique right, and its still an issue, then just use the side stand.
Plenty of bikes only have side stands.
If you need to use centre stand in your garage for space reasons, then you could chip a slight recess in to the concrete of your garage floor to help locate the stand and make it easier to lift the bike.

I also have occasional back problems, so when I'm parking my 1150GS in the garage, I roll it backwards onto this to make lifting it onto the centrestand slightly easier.
Made from a couple of mdf scraps.

Check your technique...even if you have to ask in a dealer.
Getting any bike on a centre stand isn't about strength...it's all technique.

You shouldn't be trying to pull or lift the bike.
Get the bike upright...even the heaviest bike can be held upright with just one hand on the left handlebar grip.
Ensure both centre stand feet are against the ground.
Hold the extended centre stand foot "pedal" part ideally with your right foot while your left foot is secure on the floor.
Holding the left handlebar grip with your left hand, and gaining a right hand grip either on the bike's lifting bar under the seat (if it has such), or a frame rail under the seat/pillion grabrail/rack whatever, you only need to sort of press down on the extended stand foot "pedal" while biasing the bike rearwards.
Even my fully laden Goldwing goes on the centre stand easily (sometimes even wearing crocs ) and from memory my Oilheads were a doddle to do so.

There's a salesman in a local dealer to me who's only about 5'6" and ten stone dripping wet and he moves all sorts of bikes in the showroom and gets any of them on their centre stands okay, so check out what you're doing. :thumb

Tarka is right.

Nobody needs to ‘pull’ a bike onto its main stand. Done properly (easy once you learn) the bike should ‘climb’ up itself, the main stand acting as nothing more than a lever. Too often people fight the bike and end up ‘pulling’, the ‘pressing down’ action with the ‘rearward bias’ he describes is what you are after achieving. When you try to ‘pull’ the bike, all you are doing is pulling the bike horizontally, in effect fighting the rising motion the main stand’s leverage is trying to give you.

Go into any good motorcycle dealership, someone there will be able to show you how. If they can’t or won’t, find another.

What a good idea.

If the issue isn't technique have you tried left leg facing the bike, (just ensure back isnt being twisted by doing this). Should just be weight transfer to your leg on the stand, no pushing.

RBW.

Tarka isn't quite right in saying to have your right foot secure on the floor.

Right foot should be secure on the main stand and not touch the floor, if it was then much of that effort would be wasted.

Keep both parts of the stand in contact with the ground af all times, shift your body weight to the right so it's directed above your right foot.

Got my left and right mixed up.
It's early morning. :D

I'll edit it......but you knew what I meant. :augie

I tend to stand on the centre stand “pedal” whilst holding the left grip and pulling up and back with my right hand.

I too have back problems and nice new hips.

Too help my back issues Enrolled in a pysiotherapy lead Pilates class last year. It’s a really great help in training those muscles to support the problem areas.

Thanks guys , I was shown how do it and never had trouble before, it's just I am not able to put as much pressure downwards as I used to . It's old age and it's just going to get worse but I can't see me ever parting with her , I can put the Wing on stand easy enough, for such a big bike she moves very easy . Just keep trying lol . Thanks again. 🤗

Top tip - if you are feeling a little underconfident about getting it onto the main stand - keep the side stand down until it's safely on the centre stand. If you feel it getting away from you pull it gently towards you and let it drop...

My l/c gsa I just put right foot on centre stand and up she comes. Then I’m 18 stone. JJH

If you've not already got one fit a lifting handle to the rear frame under the seat, after fitting it makes life soo much easier.

Notagser's idea of using wood under the wheels good but shortening the main stand will make it much easier.
Then when you need it on the main stand with more clearance under the wheels simply place one piece of wood under the stand :)

Just had brain fart , i have her on RT alloys, would that make it more difficult to do . .? Just thinking is all . Are there any bushes washers or such holding stand in . Thanks again.

If you are thinking of adapting of adapting the centrestand , I have an r1150gs one spare.

Yip, you angle will be out with those wheels... The GS should be a piece of piss to get on the stand... I have Enduro's on mine and you can do it with the minimal effort... Typical BM...
