Can you replace the spokes on a gs wheel one by one. To effectively relace the wheel?

I really fancy replacing my rusty chrome spokes with nice new stainless jobbies.

What torque setting are the spokes at? I guess stainless spokes will have a different tone to the chrome spokes so setting by sound may be difficult:nenau

A few years ago I took out a load of spokes out of the wheel. Cleaned them up and put them back, tapping them and tightening them till they all sounded the same. Hasn't fallen apart yet...

If I wanted to, I'd have a crack at that.

The torque setting for the spoke nipples is 3.5 to 5 Nm.

The hard part is getting the old ones out - especially if they are corroded. They can be very stubborn.

I've thought of doing the exact same thing :thumb2 Spokes on my 1150 are quite corroded and had toyed with the idea of replacing them with stainless ones. I rebuilt the Transalp wheels no problem, but would be very wary of completely stripping GS wheels. As you would be replacing the spokes (and presumably nipples too) you could just cut the old ones out one at a time. Let us know how you get on - I might do mine then :D
