Went into Halfords looking for a can of etch prime for something not related to a motorcycle and came out with etch prime and a can of
Halfords BMW Titan/Titanium silver spray paint from the own brand range of car colours.
I spot blasted off some of the corrosion around the alternator belt cover on my 2006 1200 etched the case and then sprayed with the
can of silver. It is as close to a perfect match colour wise as I have ever got from a spray can.
Well worth the money and after a good few miles the paint aint burnt off or discoloured.

Sounds interesting.....thanks for sharing.

Also another thread recently about some German paint from Lidl. Will be investigating this soon.

I used Hammerite on mine last year with etch primer, it was an excellent colour match ( both from halfords ).

The bike had only 2,900 miles and under 3 years old .... BMW quality !!

The plastic belt cover rubs away the paint and the bottom mounting screw post at the threads. Mine has anti seize copper grease all the way up the screws to the heads. The belt cover has had the fine flange removed and it sits on washers so the edge can't rub into the paint.

PS did you look under the alternator around the crank position sensor?
