Simple step by step explanation for a GPS fool !

Bought a Garmin Montana, have a manual and read forums but still don't know how to load map (s) to the unit.

Can any one help me in simple terms and step by step how to do it.
Please remember English is not my native language.

Don't Garmin offer help on their website ? Maybe in your prefered Language as well.

i have a garmin streetpilot 2610 i dont know if your is the same
install mapsource or basecamp ( have the maps installed and unlocked)

from the garmin wedsite search for MapInstall_401.exe


run it and copy maps ( its in zones or squares) to your device

that should hopefully do it

Do I need to know UNIT ID and enter it somewhere to install maps ?

Dude, first of all, chill-out...... I too am a numpty!

Also, do you use advrider? As there is a wealth of info on that website to do with this Garmin device.

OK, have you done all the updates available? There is a version 4.10 running as current. You can check the status of your machine by going into MENU>SETUP>ABOUT.... there will be displayed at the top of the page 'SOFTWARE VERSION *.**' and also your 'UNIT ID **********'

Next up from your mapsource database, choose the map you wish to send and make a map set, and 'send to device'. Your PC should read the devices Unit ID when the device is plugged into the USB port.

Try the above and see what happens.
