anyone know where and how much a motor would be to convert a 3ph compressor with 3hp motor to a single phse?

It might be cheaper to get a single phase compressor.
I remember looking at the idea years ago and there was no cheap soloution.
I know that things have moved on in the last few years but a 3 hp motor is a big lump in single phase and getting a smaller motor means less power and it could be more trouble than it's worth. Depending on what you need and assuming a large tank you could get a small compressor and plumb the big tank in to use as a resivior it wi take a long time to fill but might work out best. There is things you can get invertors and such but 3 horse is a lot of juice to suck out of a 13 amp outlet. JJH
