Now this may sound like a stupid feckin question, but i'd be interested to know who out there is the shortest person to be riding a GS or GSA. Im 5'7" with a 29" inside leg and was thinking surely there can't be anybody out there riding a GSA with my measurements ... or can there be  ?

I've only got 3 inches height on you and 1 inch on the leg. On tippy toes at a stand still but not dropped it when stationary (yet).

So is there a GSA rider with a 29" inside leg, if so how the feck do you manage it ? If its possible then that is my next bike.

I too am 5' 7" with a 29" inside leg and ride an 1150 Adventure. This is the second one I've had. I rode the first one for 12,000 miles in six months with the original suspension units and found it a wee bit daunting. When I bought the present one I took the cowards way out and put a set of standard 1150 GS Ohlins on it. An expensive exercise, but for me it makes the whole thing easier to handle.

5'10'' 29'' inside leg [must have long body] no problem with any GS inc Adv like been said settles down after a few miles.

... The medical term is 'Posterior Quackus' - Ducks Disease

... It means your arse is too close to the ground

... psst ... check out the low seat option, it has helped many sufferers live a normal, worthwhile and productive existance :D

Got a half inch on you in the leg department, and could have managed the 1200 Adv on the road with the standard shocks, especially as they'd have settled fairly quickly. But I take mine offroad, so I stuck in a set of 1200 GS Ohlins to reduce the ride height. They also vastly improved the handling, so I'm a happy bunny :bounce1

Hi all Ia m 5'9" and around 30' inside leg, Im thinking of an 1150GS or 1150GS adventure, I find the GS grand, if anything, its lower than my Falco, is the seat height on the 1150GSA much taller? can a lower seat be bought if required?

I'm a lady rider of a R1200GS . . . . 5ft 4 with a 29 inside leg. I can ride mine just fine with the low seat option :thumb

Now that sounds like a nice way to be... leggy :D

I'm 5'10 and 29" inside leg ('Posterior Quackus' for me to then), can manage my 12 GSA on both low and standard seat. the only problem with the low seat is its fecking uncomfortable over a distance much more than 150 miles and my ar*e it dead... used the standard seat on a run up to Assen earlier in the year with full luggage and enjoyed it loads more. The suspension on the 12GSA is very slack... my tip, stand it up-right and then apply the front break, when you lean it back over on the side stand you loose a good couple of inches on the seat height and hence getting on is much easier...

My other tip... Daytona Boots
I've got a set of Trans Open GTXs that I got them to increase the sole thinkness on, the only issue is they could do with more of a boot heal on them.
The M Star and Lady Star boots are good, as they both have a 2.5" rise in the heal, you can't see it from the outside, but it does mean you can get your foot down comfortably... only problem is they are very limited on sizes.

The only down side to all of this is I have managed to drop my 12GSA now once on either side, though I was no where near it on the 1st occasion. :(

Liar! you're only 5' 4" :D

Isnt the new 1200 Adventure taller than the 1150GSA?
If so, I should be ok.
If I need a lower seat, what seat would you recommend? bmw, corbin etc?

I think the 12GSA is taller, but the good thing is that the seat is narrower, cant really comment on low seat options, I went for the BMW one and as mentioned its hard and not comfortable for much more than 150 miles at a go. That said I did get it free when I bought the bike, Coopers Reading (now gone) did the deal.

The only other disappointing thing with the low seat is that mine has started to split after only 5,000 miles North Oxford are replacing it for me under warranty, but it seems a bit odd.

short-arse

me
5ft 7in with a 28" inside leg! 1200GS ridden for a couple of months on the standard seat on its low setting...... very tippy toe but ok on the flat :thumb

just bought the much needed low seat fer mine :clap

quite a few of my so called "mates" have just come straight out with it and asked me..... how a short-arse like me can ride such a big bike?

i just tell em ........ i think tall thaughts :bounce1

"How much"

Reggie aka cameraman has a 27" inside leg and is about 6" taller than a dwarf and he looked uber cool on his 1200GS and it wasn't even lowered :bow
