Hi all just thought I'd post some pics of a trip I did in Feb 09'. Just for interest really. A buddy of mine joined me for the trip on his Honda Shadow 750. Fair play to the Honda, it never missed a beat and no probs with it at all! My GS blew a headlight bulb and the key froze in the lock when it was about -10c. Still not bad though it was a pretty tough trip for any motorbike!
We rode from England to Val D'Isere in the French Alps for a weeks skiing. From there went down the Route de Napoleon (Fantastic road!) to Antibes, traveled through the Cote d'azur to Marseilles, then onto Barcelona, then down to the hills North of Malaga for some trails and even hired a traily bike for a days fun on the rough stuff.
After a week here rode home, did Spain in one day 650 miles, then Northern Spain to Hereford in one day (0600 till 2330)... that's 1025 miles in case you were wondering. A great trip all in all. Dropped the bike twice in the snow and bust my spot light off, no big deal. The Honda got dropped too but only once and no damage! Funny, that soft fluffy white stuff is quite hard when you fall over and a fully loaded GSA lands on you. There's something to be said for a low center of gravity when your riding a bike downhill on thick packed snow, the Shadow was great! For three days before we reached the ski resort we didn't see any other bikes, there was a good reason for that.
Apparently mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid day sun, but Englishmen also seem to be the only ones who ride motorbikes to a ski resort, well what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
