I want to buy a hugger for my bike an 06 1200... I have seen a Skidmarx one that seems good value, has anyone fitted one?

I have also seen a 'mud slinger hugger' from Oceanbmwbikes on ebay; but I don't think this is a 'traditional' hugger, am I correct?

TIA, Jim.

I fitted a carbon Skidmarx hugger. Had to have the support bracket modified to stop the tyre touching it when the suspension compressed. Apart from that it's been fine.

Only happened when the suspension was working hard, but it did it when I was solo with no luggage... and I'm less than 11 stone.

The support bracket has two 'legs' which attach to the bike where the plastic cover for the brake line mounts.
These had to be made longer to allow the hugger to sit slightly higher than normal. I had these 'legs' cut off and two pieces of flat bar welded on in thier place. I then drilled new holes and elongated them so there was a degree of adjustment in height. A bit of trial and error made the hugger stay clear of the tyre, but did not raise it so much that it looked odd.
I also reshaped the forward edge of the hugger which allowed the shock shroud to remain on the bike.

If I hadn't got the hugger at a very good price it would have been a pisser having to do as much as I had to, but getting it through a mate who worked in a bike shop meant that the cost of modifying was worth it.

I will check with them if the new one fits without any mods, I am looking at the plastic one?? maybe, the new one will? How old was yours?
