Ok who does it where's best place for a couple of days break
intermediate skier reds,easy blacks
I will be coming up from sunny Surrey.
Snowboarding any resorts better for this than the others
advice much appriciated :thumb2

By the sound of your ability I would avoid The Lecht and Glencoe which are limited.

Cairngorms and Glenshee will both give you a good variety but personally I think Nevis Range at Fort William is hard to beat.

You will enjoy any of the three above with the snow at present!

travelling to scotland to ski (or snowboard) sounds like madness if you live in surrey.

i'm planning a long w/e on the snow towards the end of the month, and i'm going to switzerland. you know it makes sense :)

He'll feel more at home in Scotland. It's full of folk from Surrey :blast

Would agree though.

Plenty snow in the Vosges mountains and Schwarzwald too at this time of year and probably as quick to get to as the Highlands.

don't forget, switzerland's neutral.

they hate us FEBS in scotland, or at least they always claim to :augie

Updates on conditions from here
Here or here.
They have been packing the snow at Nevis Range over the last couple of weeks, but there has been a thaw over the last few days.
Dont wait till you get to the slopes before trying to hire any kit, they were queuing for up to 3 hours over the holidays

That's not correct. It's the white settlers we don't like. English tourists are fine :beerjug:

Edit: I should have said "they don't like". I'm still on a Visitors Visa :D

fair enough. w/e would be ok, but certainly no longer than a week then :D

Just thought about jumping in the car and heading off, thought there my be less planning involved.
If you have to book this and book that might just as well head to europe, snow is thawing down here too was hoping for a dump in feb to coinside with my shifts.
thanks for advise might come over the wall later on in the year then.:thumb2

Skiing in Scotland.

Remember if thinking of going Skiing in Scotland:
Snow it probably more than adequate.
It is much more difficult (read time consuming) to get to than most European resorts.
Last but not least:
It is cold. Very cold. Eyewateringly cold. Much more so than any European resort I have ever been to.
In Europe, you are skiing , ususally in sunny conditions.
In Scotland, You are at sub arctic latitudes, and the wind blowing off the North sea.
I would much prefer to fly to Europe & have the outlined pleasures.
Myke

Glenshee or Avimore are fine for skiing at te moment but be warned its not geared up for any sort of Apres Ski so bring a good book. If I were in Surrey I would be heading off to the French Alps for sure:thumb
