Hi.

I own a BMW Motorrad Navigator IV. From what I have read this is based on a Zumo 660, so I hope I'm posting in the correct forum.

What I haven't been able to figure out or found any information about, is how to skip waypoints/viapoints in routes I have created?

I usually setup my favorite routes in mapsource and transfer them to my device. Sometimes the route is not entirely accurate or I decide to take a shortcut outside the planned route.
How do I "tell" the GPS to start focusing on the next via route (skip one or more points)?

Guess I could always delete the points I am skipping from the route, but I'd rather not do that as that will "destroy" my saved route.

Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just touch on the screen where you want to go & set as new destination.

But would that not abort the route so it would not continue to after I have arrived at the new destination? :nenau

No, just go back into custom routes, then click on your route and it will
pick up your route from where you are.

Try to avoid using Waypoints if possible. These are electronic beacons that you have told the GPS device you MUST go through, so it will keep trying many times.

Viapoints, created using the Route Tool are different. OK the bike device will keep trying to take you down the route you created (why wouldn't it) but they are less aggressive.

If you decide to go off your route, you can turn off the "Off route, recalculate?" question or set it so that you have to answer YES or NO. This is quite useful as it will enable you to ride off wherever you fancy and still see your old route on the screen. This works very well on road closures or deviations.

In one of the device's screens (I forget which one and do not have it in front of me) you can see all the Waypoints and Viapoints you created listed. You can delete, add to or re-order these in one of the menus.

Or, as someone else said, you can simply set a new destination and the device will calculate its own route, according to the preferences you told it.

Play around with the device; you can't break it. :beerjug:

Ok, thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll take the device out for a spin and try out some of them. :beerjug:
