Watching the footie over the weekend on one of the HD channels and kept loosing the picture every 5-10 minutes.....screen went blank (blue) and then a got a message saying no satellite signal is being received. Tried a few of the other HD channels and got the same problem.

After a frustrating call to Sky's sub-continental call centre I was told that the problem was to do with the HDMI connection on my Sony TV - the problem had already been reported to Sony so I was told that I'll have to take it up with them.

Had the Sky HD and Sony TV for over a year now with no problmes (warranty expired on both :blast) but since the system was updated with the new Sky Guide software a few weeks ago this started happening.

Anyone else come across this problem and, if so, how did you get it resolved

I was football on sunday (sky/setanta?) and the screen went blank several times - apparently there was a storm at the ground which was affecting signals

It's just the windy weather. Also get problems when it rains hard, snow, thunder etc.
All you have to do is wait although I have unplugged power lead a couple of times as I could not seem to get the signal back but it did when plugged back in.

i don't get sky breakup..i'd say your dish or lnb is not up to the job if you're losing signal in all but the very harshest of conditions....i can't remember losing signal ever on my dish unless it was a Sky transmition technical fault from the likes of a live broadcast.

I get the same on my HD box on occassion and find by unplugging it and plugging it back in again resolves it....

That would also have the effect of resetting the LNB. I'm with Tuned on this.

HD requires excellent satellite reception. A slightly off-target dish or a tired LNB or poor/long cable-run from the dish to the STB could all be factors.

I have had a similar problem- had ordinary sky and the picture would only break up under the greatest of provocation- got HD now (still on the old EPG) and the picture breaks up under the slightest breath of wind or few drops of rain. I occasionally get the 'no sattelite signal is being received' message as well. The only answer I get from Sky is to reset the LNB or the box- trouble is it is so tempremental it never replicates itself when I am on the phone to them.
