Letter from sky asking me to take up set top insurance - seems pricey at £8.25 monthly.

Any recommendations for an alternative company?
I've got two boxes in the house.

My 2nd box failed after 8 years and they offered to replace at a cost, I opted to leave Sky TV being a customer for +15 years, they provided a replacement FOC.

Your sales of goods act (SOGA) covers you up to 7 years, which if either unit fails should support you.

2 x £8+ a month plus your package...

Last time mine broke I phoned to cancel my subscription & they offered a free repair to keep my custom. The engineer fit a new dish & replaced the box with a new one.

One thing I would say is don't say I'm thinking of leaving, be firm say you are going to and use freesat. They might offer free movies or sports for a while, that's the choice you can make if you want to.

Good luck, let things fail first, could be a while

Yes tell them to get stuffed with their insurance. As others have said tell them you are leaving and they will give you a new box.

Insurance, for a Sky box? I've heard it all now.:blast
