Hello all - recently noticed a bit of 'jumpy hesitation' when on motorway at 60-70mph with fairly small throttle openings. Wondering if this is a feature of the efficient fuel mapping at low throttle openings - also evidenced by 'snatchy' response in built up traffic whilst filtering etc, but have to say - not noticed it before.

Thanks all

Dunno.

Will see if it gets any worse. Bike been regularly serviced by A Jeffries so assume all fuel mappings are current. Don't think ECU can 'forget' the correct mapping can it ? By the way - only done 7000 miles in 3 and 1/2 years- No prizes for high mileage then !

Funny you have not noticed it before, mine does it all the time, so did my three RT's. It is down to the weak mixture (so called fuel efficiency). I tried fitting one of those leads you can buy that is supposed to fool the ecu into thinking it needs to supply a richer mixture, but that does not work either. Tried it both on my RT and 800 GS but makes no difference.
I am not saying that is the cause of the problem and maybe you should nip it back to AJ's if the problem only occurred after their servicing it.

Hi

I've sort of noticed it for a long time but mainly in slow traffic - not whilst riding along the motorway. Service was ~ 1000 miles ago so don't think anything fishy going on there. However, good to know that it's probably a feature of the lean fuelling. Just have to open the throttle more !

i run mine on premium fuel quite often and it helps a lot and get better tank range, just a thought

I tried the lead thing - modulator:nenau and i think it works a treat, certainly cured all the annoying glitches mine had and for very little cost. I know theres a thread on the subject somewhere on the 800 section, again there is a difference of opinion as to improvements or not.

just my 2p worth.

i had same thing, sprayed the kickstand switch with wd 40 & covered it in waterproof grease, seems ok. been through a lot of standing water lately.

I fitted a Power Commander and it was probably one of the best things I could have done - perfect fuelling, all the time, no stalling - ever (well, you know what I mean...)

Pricey solution, but a better bet than one of these 'modules' IMHO

Hi
Being of limited mechanical ability ( I break things when I try 'fixing' the bike, although I have put on crash bars, sump plate and hugger without breaking them !) Is a Power Commander easy to fit ?

I'd say yes, but I can twirl a spanner fairly easily.

It involves removing the 'tank' cover, the battery and the airbox gubbins to allow you to get to the injector wiring - once you;re there it's just a case of following the instructions - piggybacking the PC connectors and disconnecting the OE O2 sensor (behind the RH side panel), then putting it all back together - oh, and don;t forget the trip to the dealers to get the OBC reset cos you disconnected the battery ... (you need a workaround to prevent this lol)

You can get away with a pre-programmed map, but to get the best from your investment the PC will need to be mapped to your engine on a dyno. I went the dyno route and spent another £150 to get it set up properly..

Mmmmm think i'll leave it. ive put up with it until now after 3 1/2 yrs so as long as hesitation not mechanical i can cope.

ta for input
