It's got nowt to do with the fuse. It's a question of whether the cable will handle 7A.
The Amp rating depends on a number of things. The internal resistance of the cable which in this case should be about 0.2 to 0.3 Ohm. The insulation of the cable or lack of. An insulated cable should not exceed a temperature of about 90'C before the insulation starts to break down. Is the cable in a well ventilated area? Ventilation should keep the temperature down. The colder the environment the more current can be handled for a given conductor size. The length of the cable plays a role as you will have to factor in voltage drop but in this case it's negligible. A 20 Guage insulated conductor should be able to handle 7.5 Amp from a 12V source. That is a diameter of less than 1mm.
