Slip Screen Replacement Screen

Hi, Has anyone fitted or ridden a GS with one of these slip screens fitted as supplied by NN (Part No.MAM-SLIP).

I'm wondering what level of protection they give you in comparison with the standard screen.

Any "side on" pictures would be great.

Good, report back to save me buying a "duff" . I have the GSA setup on my GS but haven't been entirely happy with it (I can get it so it's ultra quiet but there is no airflow so my head boils in the system 5)

Slip Screen

I fitted one a month ago and think its great,mind you I am used to riding naked bikes.The original screen was rubbish so I tried a genuine American BMW import higher version,this was better and I would probably use it in the winter but it did cause a bit of buffeting.
I am 6'1" and wear a Schuberth c3 which is very comfortable but not as quiet as advertised,no matter what screen I use.

I haven't got the NN Slip screen, but I have tried an experiment where I took a Dremel to a spare stock GS screen and took about 60mm off the top. It worked to the extent that my head was then in the straight windblast, rather than turbulent air spilling off the top of the screen, which was fine. The downside was in wet weather, when my visor seemed to collect a lot of rain which didn't happen with the stock screen. I've gone back to the stock screen now....

Easiest and cheapest screen improvement it to remove the damn thing. Try it and you'll never go back!

Erm! I Misread what you had written Grizzly.

You HAVE the Wunderlich Flow Jet fitted (as shown in the picture, must get some new eyes and maybe a brain!).

Looks nice mate, I think I prefer it.

It was second-hand, I don't remember how much it was but it seemed expensive at the time

It only serves to keep the front of the clocks fly-carcass free, there is no detectable protection for the rider. That and the look.

Really easy to remove original screen to see how the bike feels without it

+1 for the Wunderlich bikini fairing, no turbulence and it encourages you to stay under 100mph

There's scope for further pruning of the Nippy Norman's screen so that it looks like this. I bought a used NN's cockpit screen from a member on here and he also very kindly included this one which had been cut down. I had this fitted to my '07 bike for a while before I traded it for an '09.

I don't think I'm brave enough to start cutting a £100.00 screen about, I can already see in my minds eye the crack running from the bolt hole to my "carefully fashioned" profiled edge, then the tool box flying across the garage whilst shouting every known profanity at the top of my voice, and of course the obligatory head in hands "why me" session that follows.

I think I will take the standard one off this weekend and go for a spin to see how it feels.

Thanks for all the feedback chaps, the pictures have sold the small screen to me based on the look alone, of course if I take out this weekend without the screen on and I'm flailing behind the bike hanging onto the handlebars for dear life I may need to reconsider

I've had the flowjet on for a couple month after getting rid of the GSA screen. It introduces a bit of turbulence on high setting (with no screen there is none) and the wind blast at up to 80 is alright, 60-70 being fine.

Offroading is excellent as is general view when riding - the bike feels more supermoto like - it's odd I know.

Coldness is a problem; wear lots of upper layers!

Price is a complete ripoff.

Had it for 2 years now, 50000km, and ... completely.

BTW, this supermoto feeling...

The Wunderlich Flowjet can be tilted, and I found it's best to put it as 'flat' as possible, that eliminates turbulence.

I only go back to the original screen when it gets really cold.
