Slipping Clutch

I have a 52 plate 1150GS which is my pride and joy but recently I've noticed the clutch slipping at high revs. It's seems to be fine riding normally but it's when I give it a handful and overtake that it's most noticeable. I've read a couple of threads and I guess a seal has gone and is leaking oil into the clutch. I live on the Hampshire/ Dorset border and have used the guys at CW in Dorchester who are great but expensive. Does anyone have any good experience or contacts in this area for an independent bike mechanic who could do the job. If it's a false economy then tell me and I'll bite the bullet and get it done.

So when was your last clutch replacement? I reckon you're in for a new plate and spring.

Before you decide what to do, whip of the starter motor and look inside the hole with a torch. You can see if there is oil and you can feel the clutch components and the inside of the housing with a finger. It will be obvious if there is oil contamination.

No idea the bike has done 32Ks its probably the original clutch

My clutch was changed around 38k miles because the gearbox was off for other work. My clutch was still functioning correctly and was advised that it was approaching the end of its life and therefore I had the lot changed.

It depends on the sort of riding you do as to how long the clutch will last. If you do a lot of town riding, and hence of lot of gearchanges and traffic light GPs, then your clutch will wear out in less miles than if you simply ride to the motorway, put it in sixth, arrive at your desintation and get off with 12 gear changes in total.

For the money, and the job I was having done, it was worth doing then. At the time I doing nearly 2000 miles a month and a fair amount of that was in London which kills clutches.
