Slipscreens Ltd screens.. anyone tried them?

Not tried, but thinking of getting the short screen to stop the buffeting. Be interested to know other’s experiences.

yes, that is a point that I considered.. do you try put yourself out of the air flow.. of fit a shorter one and put yourself in?..

The buffeting isn’t the main problem for me, the BMW is a massive improvement over the Triumph Explorer I had, but the wind noise is deafening.

From experience on my old Speed Triple, a small bikini screen took a lot of the wind off me and the noise was a lot less than it is on the BMW. The only issue is about 120mph my helmet pushes onto my chin, but nowadays I don’t tend to ride that fast that often, so I’m really considering the low slipscreen. It’s also a lot cheaper than the Puig one.

This one is 440mm long (does anyone know the size of the std screen?).. just wondering if it will help with 70MPH wind buffeting?

Beaver if you are going to get a bigger screen which will not guarantee that it stops the buffeting, you will need the 2 cymarc screen brackets, otherwise at speed that screen can snap your windscreen brackets, if I where you I would just get a cheapo chinese spoiler that you can move up down or forward and back to find your comfort zone, as you please, you do not want all the wind off your helmet in case of rain, you need the wind to blow it off the visor.

Not tried - but anything larger than a GSA screen and you'll need additional supports - I used the Puig one as you can adjust it as if standard, no additional clamps to loosen or tighten..

Edit: Smogbob beat me to it re the additional support.

good advice...

So how much taller is the GSA from the GS?

May just look at the top flipper thing but they must add weight to the screen also?

got the cheapo spoiler, its ok and seems to do the job (early days yet) but the bracket is quite heavy, in fact I had to brace between the 2 cymark brackets.
The screen acts like a lever and splays the cymark brackets outwards, but its cheap and the screen bracket is well made, but I did have to put a couple of very small u shaped channel shims so that the adjustment screws did not move the provided shims out of the way and dent/crack the screen. I am using a very cheap spare screen of ebay by the way.
Its easy enough to fit another bit of perspex if you want a different shape of spoiler, which I am considering.
You takes your choice I guess and i like to piss around with stuff so i am happy.
But this may not be the final solution, a plastic bracket would be lighter,I have made them before with some success, just doesn't look shop bought, even if you use torx bolts to improve the look.

Apologies if I have digressed from the original post.

Nah nice input mate, every little always help solve a puzzle.............:beerjug:

I have a slipscreen screen fitted to my GSA - it’s very good. That 440 mm one is the standard gsa size and that’s what I have. I bought it to fix an MRA spoiler to using the drilled in fittings rather than the clips, and I didn’t want to drill the standard original screen.

The gsa screen with MRA touring spoiler is actually amazing. I can ride all day with visor up. No turbulence and no noise above the anakee tyres!

ok.. but is the GSA screen taller than the std GS one?

The slipscreen gsa works well good quality, a riding mate has one,
Slight negative i ordered headlamp protectors for a multistrada, they sent the old type that didnt fit, said wait until they develop some, no joy after several calls still got them years later, poor backup sadly,, ,

So just measured mine

440mm is like filling the V in at the top... wonder if this is high enough or if another 25mm would be better?

Depends where they measure from as the std GS one has a bit of a point at the bottom...

The Puig one is very good-- I've got one on my 2013 gslc. Motorway speeds with visor up are no problem, even on the lowest setting. I'm 5' 11". Might need some careful adjustment of the handguard position to prevent contact with the screen on full lock.

The mechanism to raise/ lower the screen when traveling above about 40 mph is a weak link though. The extra wind pressure overloads the mechanism and puts the spindle under too much stress if you try and adjust the screen height at speed.

Do you have the Puig screen support brackets?

I can adjust mine up to about 60mph

I've got the Slipscreen tint on my GSA and their winglets, about 6k miles in and no problems. I bought the touring screen, which has a double bubble type shape to it and works well.

I fitted one to my GS - I went for the clear version and had the 2" taller option as I have a long back which puts my head higher than normal for someone of my height (6' 1"). I also used it as a base to add a Givi Airflow secondary screen. Givi don't make a full AirFlow double screen for the LC but the bits required are available as spares. I also used the Givi screen reinforcing bracket which fits on the left aside, and find that is adequate for the extra weight, though I'm sure other types would work equally well.
