not strictly (or ever would be ) my other bike,
but,
are all these suzuki 4stroke 125,s restricted, or are they just snail like ?
anyone know any info on these or where to look to see if one will actually
keep up with traffic ?
iv been on older gs125, cg,s etc but these new uns seem even more gutless?

In the early 80`s learners on solo machines became subject to a maximum of 12hp and 125cc.

Accordingly, some 2 strokes became available in 12hp restricted versions.

Many new 4 stroke models appeared that didn`t develop more than 12hp.

I`m not sure what has happened to 125`s since the arrival of the stepped licence and 33hp/400cc limit.

I recently rode a neighbour`s fairly new Yamaha TW125 and it was so sluggish and slow I thought something was wrong with it...whereas my 125cc PitBike is a ripsnorter.

I also recently rode a tw125. I helped my 65 year old boss get into biking a few months back and helped him choose a tw125 as his first bike. I volunteered to pick it up for him as he had only just passed him cbt and was a bit nervous.
It was that night when we had some of the worst floods / storms for 10 years or whatever... good god i got soaked. And the bloody thing wouldnt go above 45 mph. Now the killer... We live in Leicester and the bike in reading!!!!! He owed me big time for that one.

Now the tyres are pumped up to the correct pressure and the engine serviced it will just about scrape up to 60mph.... if you tailgate a lorry or something!

Some of the modern 125s are very impressive though. Espicially that new yzf125r from yamaha. Had a go on one of those and its brilliant! Really quite nippy!

But thats a water cooled engine and tuned up as opposed to the air cooled engines. The little pitbikes run quite high compressions etc because they arent subjected to the vigours of a road bike.
