Slow puncture in rear tyre of my 05 'glide...

No worries, if you need it for a while not a problem ..

?... But thanks for your usual ego wank input.

Oooohh....you bitch !:D. Go easy on the fella....last time I saw him, he was struggling with his hair loss problem...and you know how that stresses some delicate folks. As soon as he embraces his change to manhood and shaves the remainder, the sooner well see his return to his jovial self I'm sure. :dabone

Anuvver larf. :D

It was just a wine induced spat at yet more what shall I do,shall I do this, shall I do that, you can do do this, you can do that, instead of just getting on and sorting such a mundane thing that it didn't even warrant a posting.

Right then, back to that comb-over. :upyou

Sorry to bring this thread back from hair loss to air loss :-) ( the original topic!).

I am prompted by Twizzle's original comment to ask whether a simpler option would be to fit an inner tube. Could that be fitted with the current tyre? Any other arguments for or against this?

Cheers

Simon

Against......can't be plugged...and as you are about to find out...dropping the rear wheel can't be done at the side of the road.......

...and often a rather faster deflation in the event of puncture.

(Anyway, I am now off to Guildford Harley Davidson as they have an open day and custom show. I've a feeling I won't be long as being in the heart of stockbroker belt will be ram packed with HOG types in chaps and tassels. My heart will inevitably sink and a little piece of me will die inside. I may take some pictures of bikes if I can before my heavy heart kicks in my 'run away' instinct – selfless soul that I am)

If you see any electraglides in their workshop, with good rear wheels, and there is a lift nearby, you know what to do!

I have an office just up the road there in Godalming....you should have seen the look of abject terror on the lovies faces when two foreign artics loaded with steel drove down their high street, having mistaken the "invoice to" address for the "deliver to" address up here in the Black Country.......

Good news! About 4 weeks ago I took the Harley to Micheldever. As well as fitting much needed new rear lads, Neil there sorted out the fit of the tyre and I think cleaned the rims.

Result: when I returned yesterday from my ride to Georgia and Armenia (on the GS1150) the Harley tyres were up to pressure.

So thanks to all for helpful suggestions.

Now the debate: shall I keep the Hardly? I tried a new 120RT today and thought it was a fantastic bike to ride. But it won't fit in the garage unless I lose the Harley. Hmmmmm!

I doubt that having the wheel re-finished will cure the problem as the issues are usually twofold:

1. Harley cast wheels on Glides are notoriously porous and will leak from any number of places
2. They corrode on the inside and the problem will return next time you change the tyre

Most people I know running Glides either fit tubes from day 1, and then carry a spare tube. Alternatively you can always buy aftermarket wheels.

I just went with the tubes inside my Avon Cobras and all is well :thumb

I run tubes as well, plus I carry a spare!!
