Hello Gs driver from scotland,

i´m from germany and on a three week holiday ride here in scotland with my gs1200adv. On the way to the ferry to Isle of Arran a car bumped in me.
Pictures can be seen at: http://gallery.me.com/lbroemel#100162&bgcolor=black&view=grid

The bike runs fine (at a first glance) and i was on a long trip on this friday 07´th aug. from Ardfern to Skye. After going to the next bike dealer in Oban he replaced a ripped of screw but i do not know if he checked more on the machine. By his saying everything looked fine but he is not used to machines with this type of transmission (kardan, very sorry don´t know the english word))

The right panier (is this the right expression?, i talk about the suitcase or however it is called) is now a little bit crooked as a screw was ripped off holding the mounting frame. It was the screw located under the seat at the inner side of the fender. The dealer in oban fixed that and since then the suitcase is "crooked". I assume it comes from the bump which approached the box in the lower left corner as the number plate was also hidden that way.
I called immedialtely the next BMW in inverness but they just told me that i do not have to show up as they are to busy and have nobody to have a look at the bike. That was upsetting me little bit to be honest. I go now without the plastic dirtflap as this was broken.
Is there any other bike shop more up in the north i could go for a quick check? As i said i´m in skye at the moment for approx 3 days and then it was planned to go on further to Thurso (at leats in this direction). I do not know when i have next time internet but i will get back to the forum asap to check the post.
Thanks a lot in advance and please fogive any misstypos or spelling. It´s not my mother tongue....
regards
Lutz

P.s. and i have to say that it is a dream to ride a bike up here.... just great... great roads & landscape....:clap

So he ran into the back of your bike?

Hope he's going to pay for it.

Glad you weren't hurt....

HRH Oonyack might have a suggestion. He lives on Skye and knows his way about dealers in the North of Scotland. Hopefully, he'll be ont eh forum this morning.

Good luck with the rest of your trip :beerjug:

Hi Gq

Sorry to hear about your crash, I hope you are OK

There is a motorcycle dealer and workshop in Inverness www.mitchellsmc.co.uk 01463 233478. they do not specialise in BMW's but they may be able to set your mind at rest.

If you are coming through Thurso, there is a small motorcycle dealers in Wick (30 km further on the A99) called AMS Motorcycles 01955 603550. The lads there are good mechanics, I know them personally and they have serviced my bikes in the past, although their knowledge of BMW's may be limited.
I know they are very, very busy at the moment as, being the only bike mechanics in the Far North, they end up doing a lot of last minute work for tourists such as yourself. But phone them up and ask, they're nice guys - ask for Paul or Steff. Tell them Lee Cartwright pointed you towards them.

Hope this helps.:thumb2

Give me a call Number now removed as HRH has them in his grasp :thumb

Yes, I can say that they are very strange. Especially the guy who is currently enticing you into his cellar.
