Ah thanks Tony, I remember you collecting it, that must be about 13 years ago now. It was well used even then, still a useful lathe though.

I picked up a Harrison L5 a couple of weeks ago. I say “picked up”, it took 5 of us and a 2 tonne engine hoist! It nearly f*cked my trailer….lucky it was only a couple of miles away.
It works but I’m now in the process of replacing worn/damaged parts, updating electrics etc. and generally fettling it….hours of fun and internet searching….i love it!

Yes there's no shortage of old heavy lathes out there, I guess demand is low for a machine that you need a crane or forklift to shift !! In my case, I don't have room for a big lathe, even the old Myford I sold recently took up space that I havn't got now, largely due to a huge motor sticking out the back.

So a Myford is too big? (There are lots of them available, I had a dreadful time trying to flog one when a mate died 18 months back, could barely give it away, and it was a good one, with lots of tooling).

What do you want then? What swing? What bed length?
