I'm after a sleeping bag that packs up to a small size.

I've got a good four seasons bag but it fills two thirds of a pannier and is far too warm in the summer.

I've found these on offer for £30 which seemed a good price.

Anyone used one?

Not sure if they still make but i use the khyam VVS sleeping system, bassically it is two sleeping bags and a bivvi bag the smallest is a 2 season bag (khyam ultra light 600), which is tiny when its in the stuff sack, that zips into the ultra light 800 which then makes it a 4 season bag, and then you can staff all that into a Bivvi bag if you want to rough it :bow

have a look here

Was fine for the Hogmoist :D

Can I suggest that the amount of Carlingburg inside you, inside the bag could have contributed to your £5 bag being "fine"

I've got a Snugpack / Chrysalis Softie ( obviously named after a night on the beer ) . About 50 English Pounds and folds up git small as out like :thumb
Florence has one , he's a reel biker :D

Only just seen this thread and therefore probably too late but I bought a good one from Decathlon. It came in synthetic or down versions. Synthetic was £30 and down £50. I pushed the boat out and went for down. Using the compression bag when travelling it compacts to something like a one litre carton size. It came in differnet sizes too which i thought was a superb idea. Mines the XL and fits my 48 chest which is something most small bags don't.

It's also plenty warm enough for summer. For spring / autumn either sleep with another layer on or get a cotton or silk sleeping bag liner.

Experience of shivering cold nights has tought me the only way to buy a bag is to start with the temperature range which you expect to encounter. Then buy the one you fancy.

Take a step back for a sec......

Now just hold on a darn minute!

You've got some wide and varied bags there yet before you part with the hard earned cash and regret it later, ask yourself a few questions. If you went into a half decent camping shop, they should all ask you things like this and more to ensure you get what you need..

- whats the highest priority? budget, size, quality or performance?
- are you gonna keep it and use it loads or use once on trip and the throw it in the loft for ever more?
- down is great for lightweight and insulation; but no use at all when wet or damp! (remember they get damp with sweat if you use them in a too hot country!)
- if you want to keep the size down coz, your going where the nights are still warm as well, do you really need a sleeping bag? why not use a cotton sleeping bag liner?

Of course, if you are happy go alternative, I've used this stuff for years and it's fantastic!!! clothing and sleeping!!

The other half, who insists on conventional has the Karrimor Travellor 700 or 900 sleeping bag. Great bags!

Used it again the other day, it was still fine. :thumb

If it had got cold I'd have worn me base layer like jammies. If it had got really cold I'd have put on a fleece, hat and socks as well. Cost per nights sleep now £1.66 and falling  ;) :D :beerjug:
