I don't really like tank bags but I've got a week in France booked at the end of the month and would like to have somewhere handy to put cash for the tolls, passport, hangery type letter thing for the chunnell and credit cards.
I considered the half sized tank bags that BMW do for the GS but they won't fit the GSA. I do have a full sized tank bag that came with the bike but it's far too big and cumbersome for me to realistically ever consider using.

On that basis can anyone recommend me a nice tidy wee tank bag that will do the trick please?

Handlebar bags aren't an option as the Sat Nav sits there.

I had the smaller BMW tank bag on my GSA twin cam, I think I used the rear fixing part from the larger tank bag to allow the smaller bag to fit the Adv if that makes sense, the part is available separately from BMW but if you have the larger bag already you already have it.

Interesting.
The fitting for the smaller bag is different to the fitting for the bigger bag. I looked at the little bag at Lind's in Norwich recently and we tried to get it to fit a 2013 GSA they had in stock but couldn't make it work.
I also rang Rainbow at Rotherham and they confirmed that the smaller bag won't fit the bigger tank.

What about the tankbags that attach via a ring on the filler cap

I can vouch for the Give bags use one on my 2015 GSA attaches to the fuel cap totally brilliant

How do the Givi bags attach to the fuel filler cap?

You need to fit a model specific mounting ring Bill. Knowing your aversion to any marks on the paintwork this type would suit you better as the bag'floats' above the tank

Loads of videos on YouTude giving demos of fitting and reviews etc (I've been researching for a smaller tank bag for my LC GSA)

A few minutes "Googling" will see you right

Cheers guys. I've just had a look at T'interweb and have seen that there is a specific ring for my bike.
I see that some of the bags chip the tank so the next job is to research the bags.

Thanx again to everyone for your help.

O/T, are you and Judith joining us in France Steve?

I've had one on my KTM and other on GSA even riding Off road today the Givis don't scratch yer tank as the other guy said they float on mount

I have a Bags Connection Daypack for mine, pretty small (they actually do a smaller one but not sure that would fit anything in !), I can fit a Kriega Cube with all my phone, keys, wallet, passport, licence etc. plus a puncture kit and waterproof cover. It also has a map holder that fits on top so I put all my documents in there and it is handy to put a map in there too. I would recommend the Evo tankring and not the older horseshoe style one as it gives you more options to position the bag away from the bars. I think the tankring and bag is less than £150.

Here's the thread where I asked this question myself, my solution from post no6 onwards http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/330793-BMW-small-tank-bag-on-ADV-how

I use a SW Motech bags connection Evo city on my XR
It sounds perfect for what you want and is very well made !

From the Sw Motech site http://shop.sw-motech.com/cgi-bin/c...2674507.1256046661.1276693688&typid=205537735

Obviously you will need to buy the tank ring as well

I think I got mine from chainspeed

Thanks. It looks a bit lumpy for my liking but thanx aagin for the idea. :thumb2

Thanx for posting. Does the metal bit where the 2 bits connect not rub against the tank?

The lower part which I have hooked under the tank panel in the second pic is sleeved in thick vinyl I didn't feel it would do any damage, if it did it would be minimal and any scuffs or damage would be unseen with the seat in place anyway.

Thanx again. Sorry to be a dumbass but am I correct in assuming that the part you ordered was the small part that hooks under the tank? I already have the larger 'zippy' bit that came with the big bag, obviously.

This too big ??.....
