Smart boots, safe for riding, and good for the meeting room

I sometimes travel to meeting on my bike and have to look the part, but don't like to ride with smart shoes as they just don't cut the mustard, particularly if there is a bit of a drizzle.

All the low cut riding boots, or "urban" riding boots I've looked at are just a bit to flash. I'm after something a bit more shoe-like and without massive branded logos all over them.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a suitable boot that is good to ride in, but wouldn't look out of place in a meeting room?

Cheers.

Me too

I often do the same. Usually take topbox and panniers to stow stuff. I have to take boos off to remove overtrousers so having a different pair of shoes is not much of a problem. Better to have good boots for riding than some kind of compromise.

I love the looks of surprize when they ask if you had problems with the traffic and you say no:D

Regards,

Path.

Thanks judge, quality looking boots there. Definitely worth a look for the up-coming long trip. Still looking for something a little less "boot" for the meeting look though.

Path, I put the jacket and trousers in the top box and lock the helmet to the side, but there's no place left to store the boots. I avoid commuting with panniers, London traffic is much less painful that way.

Really depends which end of the spectrum you want - protection, or smartness....

BMW sell these:

I wear these Belstaff boots for short trips around town:

I've got the BMW Sneaker 3.....

....incredibly comfortable, reasonably protective but they may qualify as being "too flash".....:nenau

I just can't believe that those Belstaff boots are sufficiently protective for motorcycle use (not sure about the BMW ones either).

Use proper boots on the bike, and change into proper shoes for the office - job done!

Zoltan, I hear you, those Belstaffs look like they'll fly off you feet if you kick a stone.

David, that's exactly what I do when commuting from home to the office. But I'm looking for a compromise: I need a suitable boot for those few occassions where I need to pop out of the office for a meeting. Its a trade off between safety in commuter traffic and comfort that I'm looking for.

Certain types of Daytonas are subtle and would'nt look too out of place worn with smarter trousers.Very comfy also.

I had the same problem when I bought my Roadcrafter one-piece suit which made wearing normal clothes underneath a doddle. I searched long and hard until I found these:

They are Alpinestar Soho boots and because they have a 'normal' stepped heel like civilian boots and are relatively undadorned, they can be worn under jeans or trousers without looking out of place. They are also brilliantly made, are GoreTex waterproof and are comfortable. :thumb

They are proper biking boots as well with full protection so can be worn on longer trips without worry. They ain't cheap though.
