Assuming in your description " snapped off " means the ceramic insulator has broken up.... or the plug has snapped clean leaving the thread in the plug hole...... sounds like somones been gorilla like when doing the plugs up. whip the head off and take it to an auto engineering centre get it removed safely you might even get away without a helicoil.:thumb2

Similar problem with my daughters car. Three plugs broke. I turned over the engine and the pressure blew out the broken off ceramic stub leaving just the threaded metal sleeve in the head. I was then able to get all three stubs out with the largest "easy out" that I could get into the hole and a big wrench on it. Saved me a bill estimated by the garage at a about £1,000:eek:

Easy outs by Halfords.

Easy outs normally work, but check that the electrode is still on the end of the thread when you take it out.If it's not,it's a head off job I'm afraid.

Have fun

Are these "easy outs" the pack of six for about £7 going under the name of Laser? They worked so I take it they're OK quality-wise?

Justheading home from the office now, I'll take a look at them and post an answer.

No name on them. Just 6 bits in an amber plastic case that look a bit like left handed thread taps with a very coarse thread and a square driving end.

The ones I have were certainly less than a tenner and I had a 12" adjustable wrench on the one I used as a driving lever.
