Snapped off me fuel cap !!

Evening all ,

Last weekend I rode up to Shrewsbury from Hemel in BRAIL ! It was the worst fog I've ever ridden in. And bloody cold as well. During a fuel up I unzipped all but the last inch of my Famsa tank bag lifted it up and unlocked the fuel cap.

Pulling the cap back to get the hose in I snapped the cap clean off ! It now just sits in the hole and can be lifted out without the key.

Looks like the curved arm that hold it on is made of airfix plastic to me or it was bloody colder than I thought.

I moved to Hemel H a couple of months ago from the Manchester area and havn't gotten my bearings yet but I believe there is a BMW dealer in Hertford ?

I'd appreciate any advice from the collective.

1. My MOT is due in Jan = Its a fail I guess ??
2. Anyone know how much for a new one ? Easy to replace?

P.S Anyone have trouble starting the zip on a Famsa bag? I'm finding it a right PITA . I'v had an eye out for one and bought it here but its driving me mad p*ssing about on my knees in the rain trying to zip it to the holder .

The start of the zip is right under the cross bar pad and is hard to see in poor light . Or am I a useless hamfisted c*ck who is likely to randomly snap off bits of his bike ?

Get a s/h one from Motorworks or Sherlocks & swap the locks over. Absolutely no need to pay silly cost of a new one.

I brought a s/h tank from here, removed thre filler cap aass and sold the tank
for what I payed for it!

...and when you do try fitting it the opposite way round. I originally had concerns that as it opened away from the handle bars was quite exposed to snapping. I undid all the allen bolts and turned it 180 degrees and now it opens towards the handle bars so is sort of out of the way when you put the pump into the tank aperture

MAke sure you order the big rubber o ring along with it!!

Cos as soon as the fecker hits the air it grows about a zillion times bigger and you absolutely no way Hosea get it back where its supposed to go!

...unless you warm it up with a hair-dryer.

I did the same thing trying to force my baglux away from my cap
Yet to replace the cap, will try to get 2nd hand one.
