Don't ask !. Does anyone know a company that can mend a snapped 'prong' on a chip ?.

Can you show what the damage is (picture), if the leg has broken inside or on the very close to the chip there is not much chance of fixing it if there is some metal a jumper wire might do it but it means soldering it to both sides of the connection (chip and carrier) both which may cause further damage. Repair wwould not be something normally tried.

If there is some of the leg left then you could also try making a pin to go into the carrier fit the chip and carefully with a you and the soldering iron grounded solder the remains of the leg to the new pin ( an ideal pin would be one of anothe duff chip from a electronics repair place.

a decent electronics guru should be able to make you a small board with a chip holder 1 side and the same pin profile as the chip the other. you then attach the chip to the board, solder the dodgy leg as reguired and then insert the new combo as normal.
