Air intake is just above rh cylinder, and is a weakness in the 1200GS design for wading. Any cheap mod to help prevent water damage from a numpty taking their bike too deep has got to be good in my book. Sure the aesthetics can be worked on if need be, but so what? Pointless? Don't think so mate.

+1 :thumb2 Thanks for posting. It may not be for all, and it may not be the right design for all. But for the minority of us that is interested, just out of curiosity or concern this is the type of heads up/link I like.

That said: Obviously BMW got it right this time - priority given to road (Strasse) performance. (I asked BMW rep about this trade off when they introduced us to the water exercise at Hechlingen Germany). Of the postings so far only a (very) small minority see the need to give their pig better capabilities in this field. So the rest of us may still have to do some modifications also on future GS bikes

With all due respect, mate, have you seen where BiG DoM is from ?

And some Chelsea Tractors are used for purpose :blast
