My bike's now out of warranty and done 24000 miles so is up for a service that includes the air filter being changed.
Seemed like a good time to fit a K&N but I was a wee bit worried as having already fitted a full BOS system the bike may run a bit weak
To the rescue comes a Techlusion unit (2nd hand from Wraithrider
).
So, I wonders to myself, now that I have everything I need to do the job properly why not cut down the intake snorkel as reccomended by Plasmatron - so I did
I now have a bike that will not, no matter how I try, pop on the over run/trailing throttle
BUT............ she now pulls sooooooo cleanly from virtually no revs. The slight dip/hesitation that was left around 5000 revs (even after the BOS system was fitted) has now completely gone and when the throttle is wacked open it reminds me of the pumper carbs on my old Lemon; no hesitation, the bike just surges forward
The best bit though is at 6000 revs with the throttle on the stop. Where as before the power would start dropping off and it would all start to go a bit flat the bike now feels as if 'coming on cam' and accelerates hard all the way to the rev limiter - it feels like a totally different engine at this point. Very, very addictive
Not sure if it will pass Euro III now though...............
Fitting was fairly straight forward, I've just ended up with even more wires and plugs
Here's some piccies:
Ready to go - look at all those wires
Standard intake snorkel ready to come off
Dirty, dirty filter
One long intake snorkel
And one not quite so long
Air, give me air......
All those wires
