Scotland Drive

While the country ground to a halt last weekend I decided to drive up to Scotland and see what the weather was like up there.

I left Peterborough at 0230 to miss the traffic and was in Glasgow by 0730, took the 4x4 as it’s a bit too slippy for the GS !! I pushed on and was out in the fantastic Scottish countryside by 0830 and headed towards the Black Mount and Glen Coe.

Just before you get into Glen Coe there is a road on the left which takes you down to Glen Etive, a great single track road which ends at Loch Etive.

Drove up through Glen Coe and spent the night in Fort William. Next day we drove to Kinloch Hourn. Another fantastic drive down a dead end road 22 miles long through fantastic scenery.

We managed to get 20 miles down the road but had to give up as it got too dangerous and there was no one else around to assist if we got stuck. From there we drove to Fort Augustus for a quick pint and then back to Fort William.

Sunday morning up early and drove back via Glen Coe again, temperature was -15 degrees, had a great time, wish I could spend more time in this great country, I will be back in June on the GS, hopefully there will be less snow !!!

Last couple o miles into Kinloch Hourn can be interesting in good conditions. You probably made a wise decision.

Stunning part of the world that, might be at it's best like this, no midges and few tourists.

Talk about supporting the SS, posted two threads, one for us and the other in photography. I'm not complaining though.

It's a shame that I don't get up there more often myself but I'd have to ditch the family and that seems to be somehow wrong.

just looking at all the posts about your pics its good tae go on to a site and see that so many people enjoy the real deep beauty o oor wee patch up here
