Hey everyone after a 7 month battle with bmw an a few engines later finally moved off the lc gsa

considering a ktm as a possible replacement so what model would you all recommend an mainly after reliability after the debacle haha :)

Thought I could tour on my fire blade but after doing 500 miles today realise i really need a adventure bike back in my life :)

look forward to any ideas

990 Adventure's a cracking bike, basic well made with fantastic WP suspension that's easy to manually set up. Not a brilliant tank range, I think I used to get about 160 miles before the light would come on and approx. 40 miles until you're pushing, that said, I always need a piss and a cuppa after 160 miles anyway.

1290 GT. Superb. Easy to read display. 170 miles to a tank (to reserve light). Fraction of the weight. Doesnt sound like it is about to explode. Sweet gearbox plus quickshifter. Engine!

My 1190S is light years ahead of the last GS I rode (2010 Model) in every respect, the extra 10BHP of the WC is unlikely to change my view.

I cannot see a new KTM will be any worse than a new BMW, and IMO likely a lot better.

The key point is the KTM is as good at pottering around like a GS, but has a lot more to give and is far more fun when not pottering around.

I would imagine any of the new 1290 models will more than fit the bill, or a tidy late model used 1190 if you do not want to pay new prices - should be plenty around as it seems every 1190 owner fancies a 1290 now.
