So I stopped in the Harley Store...

Please, if you don't mind me asking, how much was the Corbin seat, and does it lower the height at all?

I bought the seat three years back for my 2005 R1200GS, it was around $425 (front only). I had bought that GS used from a lady who had whittled down the factory low seat so I needed something. I tried Sargent and Corbin seats, both had me sliding down/forward to the front but Corbin's firmer bucket fit me best. I noticed a lot of owners had the rear in the lower with the front in the higher position as a remedy. I want as much knee room as possible so I had them raise the front .5" when they built it and set it in the high/high position. It followed me on my 09, and now to this Adventure.
Do you have an Adventure or GS? The standard front seat on a GS is an inch lower than the one on an Adventure. (The "low" version being lower yet.) Corbin makes both a GS and Adventure version so I assume this one is lower. But with the front being a bit wider than stock (but much better support when riding), as well as mine being raised .5", it has the effect of feeling a bit taller when you stop. This seat on the low settings would feel about like a standard factory seat in the high position, only w/o the forward slope.

What a great bike and what a bargain - this is the time of the year to get these deals.

Thanks. Being an orphan brand for the Harley dealer, along with the slow time of the year, must have worked together because I'm not one that stumbles onto bargains very often!

Hello

I've not tried the aftermarket seats, but I did add two sheep skin seat covers to my bikes, and they completely change my riding experience and comfort. No forward sliding, warmth, and comfort and dirt cheap. Downsides are extra height, not rain friendly and sweat inducing in the summer.

God, I love the garage.

See I'd have thought a wooly would breath and be cooler in the heat?

I like your photo with black and white GS, RS and back dog proudly posing between them! Are all three yours?

I don't get to use the K as much as i'd like because the dog, that believes all three (ie me and not her) belong to her, tends to be out on it most of the time.

not sure how much that little pronominal flourish makes sense - it's nothing to do with booze either, i'm dry for January. It's just general grammatical incompetence...

anyway - yup the wooly covers also work in the summer, i guess at certain heat, anything makes one sweat around those parts...:augie

not sure how proud dog is looking, may be nervous in case she ends up as a furry seat cover on my Tiger xc

but I still love your garage, even if i've got fancy seat covers.
