Hi folks
I already have a twinmax but the results seem to be a bit..ahem..variable . Yes I do know how to use it, I'm just not sure that it's very accurate.
Anyway I did a search and everyone seems to rate the Harmoniser BUT it not available for the foreseeable future so whats best for balancing the throttles ?
Whatever suggested needs to be reasonable portable and must be a accurate (so don't suggest home made tubes and coloured fluid please)
What's everyone using or do peeps just pay bmw rates? (not my thing, I can't afford it and I want to do it myself)
Advice gratefully received
PS I would happily buy a harmoniser at retail price if anyone has one for sale:augie

A 20 foot length of 6mm ID tube with some oil in it IS portable, and as accurate as you need :nenau

Oh ok, you want to spend some money......go ahead......:augie

i am going to try a morgans carbtune ( with mercury in it) so if i die from neurogical problems you will know to avoid it

will be a few weeks before i can use my pals garage hes buggered aff on his hols lol

I have used the carbtune 2 with metal rods, the jury is out, the readings are balanced, but I'm not sure if there isn't more high frequency vibration in the bars than there was?

I've got 2 carbtunes - mercury and steel rod and they both work fine.

The mercury model is slightly more accurate perhaps, but the one with rods is very much more portable.

Whats wrong with the twinmax? I have had no problems with it. I balanced my 1150 at highest sensitivity with little effort today , as I have done many times.

Twinmax for me!

I agree with Den, the Twinmax can be hooked-up & balanced on maximum sensitivity in 5 minutes and the results seem to be spot on:thumb2

Cheers ..............Grizzly :beerjug:

My metal rod version is brilliant, set it up (tick over) and aint touched it since perfect.

i could be persuaded to sell my twinmax if anyone wants it.

Aye .. and Ive got two lengths of string with feathers on the end, which I dangle in front of the vacuum take-offs and see when the flutter equally.

Works fine for me.

I use a specially trained gerbil in each throttle body.

Or if the gerbils are feeling a bit tired a home made u-tube. It's the perfect differential pressure instrument for this job. People who think that a u-tube won't work just because it doesn't cost a packet and come in a pretty case are deluded and shouldn't be allowed near spanners.

It'll still sound like a bag of spammers.

Bought one of 'harmonic sync' 'units'.

A bit of kit that gives me the 'pat on the shoulder' reassuring tap. Your ok, just keep riding. Change the oil.

throttle bodys

Shame they don't use a single throttle body on a manifold to both cylinders,
but with 2 injectors like Harley use. It would save having to balance the damn things. I use the plastic pipe with coloured oil method.
I wonder if they plan to go to fly by wire throttles like harley use now on their glides. and how will it control twin throttle bodies.
