So if not the Twinmax then what?

Getting back to the start of this thread ,what is the best to use? is the diy pipe as good as anything available for home use ? Was going to buy a twin max but tempted to just make one now:nenau

Yes.

And it'll cost you about £3 to find out - no brainier really. Just make it tall with plenty of headroom above the static fluid level and experiment with different fluids if you want to increase the damping (although I just use water with red food colouring in it...)

Ask how many people own a twin max and are happy with it?
I use it for R100/R1150/R12GS /R12GSA and it keeps me happy. Portable, tough enough, nothing to spill.

Ask if they've used anything else to compare a twin max with. :D

You set up your bike using your twin max, and then bring it around to me and i'll set up more accurately much more simply :D

I hate any vibes so I want it right.

I have used a Carbtune and a U-tube manometer, neither are as convenient as the Twinmax if you do not have a dedicated workshop. If you cannot get a result with the twinmax, I'd say there may be other issues. Harmoniser may be the next big thing..

Aye .. and Ive got two lengths of string with feathers on the end, which I dangle in front of the vacuum take-offs and see when the flutter equally.

Works fine for me.
Are they special feathers or will any do? :D
