Well, after 4x final drive problems in quick succession and mucho expense I have sold my GS and done a reverse-Rasher and got a ZZR1400 instead.

Hopefully BMW will soon see the error of their ways and address their customer service issues (lack of) and their quality control issues and the bikes will become the all rounder they should be.
I've loved my BMW but can no longer live with recurring fault caused by bad design, which makes an otherwise outstanding bike unreliable.

Thanks for all you help guys over the years and keep it shiny side up!

Some of us are 'lucky', and sometimes may make light of others disillusionment in what is a great bike, which can inspire, and become a part of our biking history....

....but after 4 final drive failures I can only imagine your frustration, and stress levels, associated with the Gs, and BMW! Your patience, and deep pockets, must have been extremely stretched.

It's extreme tales like this that make you realise that it's about time BMW do something to resolve this problem.

Sorry to see you leave the 'clan' fella...but I hope you enjoy your new bike...and enjoy a break from mechanical problems.

And who could blame you :(

Stick around anyway :comfort

Well, I can imagine level of your frustration after four FD problems...

At least, BMW has to significantly improve quality control and on first place anti-corrosion protection (or stop using of Chinese bolts and parts in 18,000 Euro worth bikes)

BMW did absolutely nothing, and my local service managers face could've looked more bored if he'd fell asleep whilst I was talking.
Very disappointed with BMW customer service.
Very disappointed to see the bike go after MANY happy hours spannering her, cleaning and of course many happy miles.

Hope you all have no such bad luck and ride safe!

Might be documented in other threads but out of interest, how many miles had it done?

Were you original owner and were all the failures covered under warranty?

Enjoy your new bike :thumb2

Not all BMW dealers are the same.....

BMW themselves, or the dealership you used??

If your bike has warranty with BMW, you can take it to ANY dealer you like within the dealership network. If your chosen dealership is poor, the best bet is to ask on the forum where else to go to get good service and then go there with your business. Afterwards you could then take the matter of previous poor service up with BMW themselves:

If nobody complains, BMW don't know how good or bad the people are that have their FRANCHISED dealerships, and that big blue sign over the door can be removed if the franchisee fails to meet quality standards. If enough people complain.........

Its sad to hear that you had 4 final drives without satisfaction, I'm sure my local BMW dealer would have shown you more respect, listened to your grievance and resolved your bikes faults to your satisfaction.

Enjoy the Kawasaki and pop back to the forum now and then.:thumb2
