I thought it would be a good idea to back up my phone's recent contacts etc, since I had not done so for 6 weeks.

I plugged in my iphone 4 to computer, and ended up with Apple's equivalent of the famed Microsoft "Blue Screen of Death" That is, the Apple logo & everything frozen.

After an hour, I found out how to get out of it, by pressing power & home buttons simultaneously.

I now have had to redownload all my settings to phone, but it itunes has lost all records of my apps, so I have to try & remember them and redownload them from suppliers.

So much for Apple's much vaunted relaibility.

Dell Latitude 520. In 2 years, used at least 6 hours a day, it has never frozen or hung. Used for industrial programming via Ethernet & RS232 ports.

Don't really see how a crash on non Dell hardware causing corruption of software stored on it is Apple's fault.

Did you try re-installing iTunes? Did you contact Apple support and ask them for suggestions?

Did not need to re install I tunes. It was still on computer. Just unfroze iphone & reinstalled operating system in it.

This happened at 6 pm last night, and I went on internet & found out how to unfreeze iphone. No reason to contact Apple, since there was nothing they could have done other than to get them to tell me to do what I had already done.

I had the phone fully backed up on the computer, but in the reinstallation, all apps disapeared.
