So my RT has lost £5k in 11 months!

Placed the order with Coopers in Kent today.

Chris gave a good deal on a grey LE with loads of extras.

Not too happy with their service, but they are the nearest.

Glad that you got it sorted at last......the RTLE is an outstanding motorcycle...enjoy.

BTW. I got £10.7k trade in on my 2013 GSA against my fully spec'd £17.5k LE at my local dealer.

£7k to swap :eek

Hope it's worth it & you don't fancy a GSA in 2015 again

£7k - just to change nowadays - I only paid £9k in total for a brand new GSA in 2005

Still got it BTW :)

How times change :blast

Enjoy ;)

Worth every penny Johnny. The new RT is a stunningly good bike, and ticks all the boxes for me.
Mind you, I still miss my old 08 GSA, if only it had another 20+bhp, it would have been almost perfect for me.
And although the new GSA has the extra oomph, I dont think the WC engine suits it.

£50 says you'll have a GSAW within 18 months!:P

Nutty....I'll see your £50 and raise you another £50 on that.:green gri
I really tried to love the new GSA, but I just couldn't bond with it, due to a few anoying issues.:nenau

Once you get over the boring old codger stigma attached to the RT, it really is a fantastic bike, and the perfect long distance tool.

Well said, all the RT's are great bikes in their own way from 11RT to 1150RT to 12RT to 12RT WC

How many miles did your old bike have on it?
Did you opt for the radio on the LE?

I got the audio package on the new RT, and only 7400 on the RT I traded in (had a bad year or so riding wise)
Why? Have you bought my old bike? I left the crash bars on as I'm kind

yeah but that £9k is nearly 10 years ago! What miles have you done since and what repairs have you carried out other than routine maintenance? Oh and what price the competition then?

Just wondering don't ya know...

30k on her now

Zero corrosion - but not ridden in winter

Nothing done, apart from routine maintenance

Warranty claims - new bevel box at 500 mile service as there was some movement at pdi, so dealer thought it was best to swop it out - no further issue in 30k

No other warranty claims

Competition at the time ?

I guess a Tiger was about £7500 & AT about £7000 & a Varadero about £8000 new in 2005

My point was the new GSA has risen to a price range of £12500 (base) to £15500 (full spec but no luggage) & the RT is similar at full spec.

Some people are paying £7k to swap from a 2013 bike to a 2014 - which is a hefty chunk in anybody's mind and getting a bit silly - the dealers must be thinking Christmas has come early

To swap from a 2004 1150 GS to a 2005 GSA cost me £700 not £7000 :eek

Bike prices have risen significantly in 10 years, but uk wages haven't and have stagnated or gone backwards in real terms, so no wonder people are choosing BMW Select PCP to obtain them as the cost of bikes has risen so much

Wow 3,000 miles a year - living the dream :bow:D

3,333 miles per year, but let's not split hairs :)

Initially she did about 5-6k per year but I have always had other bike's too

Just a leisure rider for trips and weekends away - days out

Now I have another GSA too - done 30k in 4 years on that one, she probably does 1-2k per year now

No I've not got yours however I've the same'ish miles. I was offered £8k for mine but purchase price is a little lower for the new LE.

£5k .....the blokes having his trousers pulled down in a year old bike

They're pulling his pisser......royally

But it's what dealers do in 2014 with all those overheads

Money, money, money ....... :blast

£5k would buy a pretty nice bike outright and you'd only lose about £1k a year on it maximum, but I guess if you have it to spend, then spend it ;)

even if I had the money I'd rather spend £4k tops on a minty 1150RT and spend the other 10 on other stuff. £10k + on any bike is just twatish and if as a dealer I had mugs prepared to waste money I'd be taking as much of it off them as I could.

Learnt my lesson on the one and only time I tried to trade in a car. Was offered £400 for swmbo's Nissan against a 3 Series at £4495. Sold the Nissan next day for £1500, went back to the dealer and haggled the £400 off. That was 25 years ago and I've never even bothered to ask for a trade-in price since. Come to that, I avoid dealers whenever possible.

Trippy, maybe you would like to revisit your comments and not name call people who are only doing what you say you would do i.e. spend their own money how they want.

The insight into your poor attitude to people spending money with you would also bear a rethink.

He's not name called anyone in particular - just expressing an opinion, that's all

Which way you take, depends on whether you're sensitive or not :)

Personally he's kinda right, BMW are on a roll extracting every £ very successfully from buyers

However it's up to everyone what they spend their money on
