i tried it with an without on my 1150, it does stop some crud on the bike, as for german requirements, how come jap stuff dont have em in germany then??? got to admit, its feckin ugly though

I ran my 12GS for a while without the "black mud guard thingy" and I thought that more sh1te was thrown up over the back of the bike - number plate, rear light, topbox - so I put it back on.

That's my twopenn'orth. It does keep the sh1te down.
