So who rides a "K" bike....?

"k" bike

Ran a K75 Ultima 3yrs/45k,did 4 europeon tours two up. Definately best tourer and smoothest/most economical bike I ever had. Only sold as getting a bit heavy to push around,if only it wasnt so top heavy I would have kept it! Lovely g/box as well.

I've got one that I'm modifying a little.

I hope to change the instrumentation to motogadget

Have wider handlebars, lose all that crap on the front and have just the round headlight. The front mudguard will return. It's just off temporarily to be reshaped and painted.

The mod's are in tandem with a general program of maintenance. Hope to get various things powder coated, replace rusty bolts etc.

I think the clutch spline needs to be lubed as down shifting is a bit sticky.

Other than that it's a great bike. :thumb2

She looks quite good in red but it's not the original. Someone has left the Honda paint code number under the seat. I have ideas for a new paintjob :bounce1

CB500/S of CBF 500 would tick all your boxes. They will out handle most muppets out there in the right hands,Parts, service and FUEL economy are all excellent.

Honda Deauville for longer distances is fantastic machine. You just need the right mindset for it and you'll be laughing.

If you wish to stay BMW, F650 GS, F650CS are well proven. More cash? Why not F800s /ST/ GS or the under rated F650 GS twin.

I have just ordered a Honda NC 700x for commuting and odd weekend away as my ability to motorcycle is about to be drastically reduced due to family commitments (twins due soon.)

The NC is a real marmite bike, either you love it or you won't. For me it ticks all my boxes, it's built in Japan not china and the linked C-ABS I found hard to fault. Along with a 2 year warranty, i'm as happy as a we spotty dog

TBH i'd go a CB/ CBF 500 no problem. I'd seriously consider one as a winter bike too.

Good luck with your decision:beerjug:

I have had a K1100RS for 14 years and the 1200GSA for 3 years. I prefer the K bike for motorway/fast A road riding and the GS for the twistier A's and B roads. I don't have to commute on either but if I had to I think I would prefer the GSA due to the height advantage and its much easier to chuck around. The K1100RS has to be ridden smoothly and doesn't like change of lines mid corner etc., wheras the GSA is much more forgiving.

Apart from the fact that I had a K1300GT I would fully agree with all that Beemerman has said above. I had two former GS's and then the K and have gon back to another GS. Its the perfect all rounder for me, in or out of town, on main or back roads. :thumb2
