Out of choice, I would always buy Ohlins.......................they look 'cooler' too

Oh FFS... he's a new member and based in Israel with the real possibility that English is not his first language. Have a heart!

Ohlins, WP etc. are all top brands with their respective fans/supporters. I'd buy whatever is supported in your local market. No point in buying the worlds best (whatever that may be) and then having to send it off round the globe to get it serviced. If your existing suspension is tired then any of them are going to make a real difference.

I've got Ohlins on my 2003 and love them

But as others have said Wilburs are cheaper and as far as I know really good also.

Oh, and welcome to the site. Ignore the sarcastic comments from some of the others, they are all very nice really, or so I'm told.....

I've used Wilbers for about 30,000 miles with one service in that time. Much more adjustment than the OE items and a better ride as well as better control.

If you are on unmade roads a lot consider Hyperpro that are recommended as being much tougher than the rather fragile Ohlins.

Tales of experience from 250 000+ km (150 000 miles) under good 'ol GS on 3rd World's bad roads:

Wilbers: was fine for 10 000 km then broke down every 1000 km /600 miles.

Öhlins: good for some 20-30 000 km before the body split into half.

The only shock that worked: Hyperpro. 50 000 km still going strong.

So my recommendation is to stay away from Wilbers and Öhlins and don't believe their marketing hype. Hyperpro is the way to go, cheaper, utterly more durable/reliable and Hyperpro's "3D" models dampen exceedingly well (on par with Öhlins, better than Wilbers). Unless you like the fancy yellow looks of the Öhlins and don't plan to keep the bike long.

Choosing the durable shock is probably the most expensive "school" I've had in my life. But someone got to do it so hopefully others now know better. Marketing and user hype and reality don't go together most of the time and very few humble companies can offer high quality durable products where actually the engineers design the product, not the marketing department like with Öhlins and Wilbers.

All this IMHO of course and just a personal experience.

Shocks

First welcome to the site, ohlins are very nice and have a wide range of adjustments and over here anyway have a great poser appeal. (to some)
I have done 87000 miles on my bmw ones, been halfway round the world and done the dalton highway in Alaska and very many other worse roads and they've held up great. But listen to the voice from Romania because he does know what he's talking about having been there and tried the roads!. But very nice place to go, people are great but a long way from here. Ohlins are fine if your running a works moto GP team or your names Valentino but I can't see why you would need these kind of adjusments on our tractors.

I know what your saying but 'these kind of adjustments' is only pre load and rebound,

If we're talking hi/low speed adjustment of compression and rebound on the more expensive units then yes I agree

I must be lucky, fitted Ohlins shock 137,000 miles ago no problems, oil changed twice. Bike ridden two up and camping gear (really overloaded, we aint lightweights) travelled all over the Americas and East and West Europe, that said I had a slightly stronger spring fitted, which may be a factor in there longevity. Really happy with there perfor:

Anyone use "Nitron" shocks?

I have had nitron shocks recommended to me by a mechanic as a less costly option than Ohlins.
Does anyone have any experience of these shocks?

I wonder how the ORIGINAL would have fared - rebuilt with an upgraded spring.

Wilbers are good VFM, but I have found them harder to set up to give a good ride & feedback
