Hello!

My 2026 GS Trophy will be delivered in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile I’m having trouble finding soft side pannier that will mount onto the OEM vario mounting system.
If anyone has some suggestions, I’d be grateful!

Cheers,
GIrilal

Thanks!!
Naturally I found the Touratech ones 3 minutes after posting.-)
But the Bumot is new to me!

Appreciate the help!

Funny you say that – and strangely they don't!
Odd, didn't realise there is such a difference between GS and GSA...

I’ve got a set of Lonerider Motobags mounted on the Apduro frames so that they mount to the vario points without scaffolding. It’s an excellent system. Not the cheapest, but good quality, slim and capacious.

I've the Lonerider Motobags currently - using the scaffold frame set up which I guess is ok but would prefer to put the OEM set up back on. Strange that Lonerider don't do these themselves but quantity/looks and ease of use - would you recommend?

Definitely. The initial outlay for the frames is a little painful, but if you mix riding with and without panniers, it’s really nice to be able to have the back of the bike completely clear when the panniers are off. Putting the bags on or taking them off with the Apduro graces is a piece of piss.
Go for it!

Thanks! Another great option!
It's funny how hard it is to google this.
But I'll admit to my own lack of proper terminology for this whole thing!

Have a look at Givi. Their Canyon range of softbags will fit the GS. I use the 35 litre bags on my V85TT.
There seem to be various mounting options incl one that will fit the BMW vario fixing points.

SW motech quick release frames and kreiga soft bags on their mounting plates.
I had the kreiga bags before on previous bike.
I like the way that I can remove the racks can be taken off in five minutes when I’m not using the bags as I prefer the way the bike looks without scaffolding.

Thanks, Wicker!
Givi's website is weird though. I've been there before and couldn't make heads or tails of what options exist.
Perhaps I'll write to them:-)

It seems most options you guys have kindly suggested would require after-market frames of some sort.
And understanding compatibility between brands isn't done in a minute:-)

Does anyone have any experience and/or opinions about the Wunderlich X-BAGS X30?
The rack för them are faily simplistic and would leave the bike pleasantly bare when the bags are off:-)

I have the Wunderlich xbags, and really like them. I will post a picture over the weekend, but they have plenty of capacity, look sleek, lockable..etc. The carrying frame was pretty easy to fit, and I am not known for my prowess with that sort of thing...

Thanks, Beerman!
Great to hear that!
Gives me the confidence to go ahead and get them!
:)

GeeBeem,

I used these for my Scandinavia trip this summer just gone (2,500 miles). The fastenings/ locks etc held up, and the bags are waterproof. The roll top works well. Easy to get on and off the bike, with carry handles.

A few points:

1. You need to remove the BMW side case mounts and tuck the wires under the seat (with some tape to protect the connectors). It's not difficult, and there are YouTube videos about this. The Wunderlich frame is easy to fit (remember that you have to buy it separately from the bags!).
2. The first picture shows that the heel guards behind the rear footpeg get in the way of the frame - either push them down or remove them (easily done).
3. Buy the strap extenders which increase capacity (picture 3). I think this was a design flaw - without the extenders the capacity is limited. I pointed this out in my review on the Nippy Normans site, and to Wunderlich. You can do it perfectly easily by snipping the webbing on the cases, but you may not want to do this.
4. The cases hold dry bags at each corner. I use reflective yellow ones in the rear. I attach tools, waterproofs and odds & sods this way.
5. The easiest and best way to attach the dry bags is via velcro straps, low cost from Amazon. The way Wunderlich designed the straps isn't great, but velcro works well.

As I said I am very happy with them with these minor modifications.

I use a Drifter expandable rear case attached to the original top box mounts using the same velcro strapping. It's very secure.

I hope this helps.

Thanks so much, Beerman! This is very handy info.
– I was actually thinking the same things about the extension straps.
1. That I need to get them, but also,
2. Why aren't the original straps extendable!? :-)

I agree - I think it was a mistake. I have the extenders, but I also snipped the webbing on the original buckle - you will see what I mean when you look at it. I have now got enough capacity for a fridge freezer on one side and a piano in the other!
