Hi

Looking for some advice from the group.

I am in the process of getting some soft luggage for my 2013 GS LC as I currently have a full set of vario cases and not really getting on with them.

I am hopefully getting a set of the Atacama bags and doing some research into what racks to get. Do I go OEM adventure racks or something else?

So any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers :thumby:

Atacama fits on standard GSA racks. Have a look at the Mosko Moto website - they make the Atacama for BMW.

Cheers for this Nin.

I know that I can use GSA racks (with adapter plate) but as I have a standard GS there is currently no racking on it. So my query is do i get GSA racks or look to another solution GIVI etc?

Cheers

Mark

My daughter uses soft luggage on her 1250gs. I fitted a set of Hepco and Becker removable luggage frames . I fit Kriega o/s soft luggage but the frames will support any soft luggage and when not needed ,a big allan key removes the racks in seconds. Have used this system on f650gs ,f800gs and 1200gs !

I agree with your luggage choice. I have Mosko Moto Backcountry 35's. Although I have them fitted to a KTM 790 with the KTM (Touratech) racks, it's the same principle.

Choose the racks you like the look of best - they should all work.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards the Givi quick release frames. I know the mounting bits can be removed from the Givi frame but don't know if the gap in the Atacama mounting plate is big enough to fit around whats left.

Yes. Thats the ones . Very easy to fit on the Gs ,only thing you may have to do is trim a bit off the Mudsling ,if you have one fitted.

Bumot Xtremadas also fit on OE GSA racks , but no help if you have a GS

I have SW motech quick removable racks and kreiga soft luggage on my 1250GS.

I didn’t want the Vario panniers as they weigh a ton even when empty.

Whatever you go for will be an improvement over the vario’s imho.

Thats a good piece of information.
I might avoid them then as might want to sell the mudsling at some future date 😀

I did stacks of research before buying them and I’m delighted with them. I’ll never go back to bins but I do love a decent top box which is also a Bumot in ice grey matching the bike.

I have a set of SW Motech quick fit/remove frames hanging on my garage wall. All there apart from 4 bolts which go under the seat and position the brackets, easy to replace.

They came off my GS1250 and other GS12s. 3years old and in pretty good nick. Not looking big money so say 120quid posted. Let me know

That’s a bargain

Givi quick release, , literally one minute to put on and the same to remove.
Strong and relatively cheap.
Great piece of kit!

I have them. After using the tin boxes, I much prefer the Xtremadas.
Also have the Bumot Defender Top Box which has a great lid mechanism and imho better value than the standard beemer box.
They also do the top box in ice grey which matches my bike. They key for the top box also works on the Xtremadas locking mechanism.
