Soft Southern Shandy Drinkers - Take Three - 20-21 November 2026 - Seven Stars Inn, near Wool, Dorset

Mrs P has informed me that her employer is ramping up weekend surgical bookings such that she will probably be working every other Saturday. This increases my chances of attending by 50%, I’m buggered if I’m sitting at home alone when a social event including beer and Rugby is available.

I will do a recce when it stops raining here I can pop into see Jill at the Stars and check the latest , there is another pub up the road with camping The Red Lion I did check them out before they have a sports bar , I will pay them another visit and a bonus they are out of range of the train horns
I know The Black Bear has been very busy when I've gone past when there's been a big football game on
and I should be free for this event

IanAK is like a long range desert group operator.

He quietly slips away, carefully surveilling his territory, to mysteriously return at a later date with a dossier of vital, accurate and current information.

Brutally effective, don’t question his methods. 😆

Here's the latest news from the 7 Stars from my visit today it is off the market at the moment , the camping field is quite busy and it is still £15 per night and set to stay at that price
I also checked out the Red Lion with camping right behind the pub but they are £26 per night I mentioned the Rugby game and would that be available to watch and the lady I spoke to was not very forth coming but when I left for the car park a chap followed me out a said to phone and ask for the manager nearer the date and get a deal
The Red Lion is not walking distance from the other pubs in Wool Here's a few pic;s

35 years they have been at the 7 stars

Thanks Ian, great recce.

It’s good to hear that the 7 Stars is still a possibility (at this stage).

The Red Lion looks like a decent alternative - those picnic tables would be useful.

Hard to concentrate on the photos of the pub, though, when the eye is continually drawn to that Triumph!

Reconnaissance is tough work, time for a well earned frosty.
