I am just a softie? I find the seat on the 1200Gs hard and unconfortable. After a few hours on the road it becomes downright unbearable. My mate on his 1100Rt seems as happy as a pig...Throught towns and tollgates I stand up to give the cheeks a breather. Initially I thought it is just a case of getting used to or become tougher, but I have done 12000km's on her and the situation is not getting any better. Some suggestions are that it might actually be the jocks causing severe discomfort. Next long trip I will try seamless cycle pants. I am still of the opinion that the seat is simply to hard. My mates will have a field day with me should I pitch with a sheepskin cover!There is no other source of complaint on long rides ie. no neck, back, shoulder or any other fatique, just the unbearable bum burn. Aparently the stock seat cover is glued to the stuffing so that softning the seat is no straight forward job. Any other suggestions?

Hi Anikin,

I find that after 3 hours my ass is mighty sore on my 1200. I was hoping it was just a matter of getted used to the seat. I have 7,000 km on my bike.

I would suggest you trade it in immediately for a Pan European.

Hi Anikin - after 18000 miles my arse is now 1200 seat shaped and all is well - but when I drive the car I get shoulder, neck and back ache!

I think the harder the seat the better - not the opposite...

I can certainly vouch for the Airhawk. Its enabled me to do 14 hour rides (stopping only for petrol and food) with very little discomfort. It was one of the items I took with me on my recent trip to Britain. It served me well on the rides from London to Princetown, then up to Cardiff, and eventually back to London.

Had the stock seat modified no problem. The guy who did the work was surprised that the cover is not glued to the foam as all previous BWM seats he'd worked on used adhesive.

Have to agree fully with the airhawk sugestion.
I managed to do lands end to J'ogroats using this seat cover.
It was excellent. (although took a little getting used to) I will NEVER do a long journey without it. I managed 8-12 hours riding for 4 1/2 days without any discomfort (although knees stared to ache a bit!)
Ace. bit of kit, woth every penny of the £130 I paid

Hi North, I will be doing 900 km's trip on the weekend. I am going with the theory that the problem is friction and the seams in clothing. I'll remove pockets from my jeans, & try cycling type shorts in place of jocks. I'll let you know how it went.

Have tried standard seat,modded seat with gel pad ,modded seat with extra foam and the only thing that made my 1150 bearable was an Airhawk cushion.
A change from 100 miles with agony to 600 plus miles in a day and being able to walk.
The cycling sorts option did not work

My levvers (Kushitani Dragons) have an extra reinforced (padded) area on the bum & allow me to ride twice the distance without.
