Well, after 18months of ownership and only 2500miles of use. I traded in my S1000RR for something a bit, er, different:augie

I test rode a few other bikes, and was quite impressed with the Aprilia Tuono V4.
However, that was before i tested the Diavel Carbon. The Ducati just blew me away. what an awesome bike.:bow

So my trusty 1200GSA now has a new stablemate....

The S1000RR is an incredible superbike - the best i've ever ridden (including the RSV4 ARPC) and i loved it.
Trouble was, i was riding far too fast on it, the sheer speed was intoxicating and it was getting dangerous, and i'd had a few near misses and close calls with the Feds.

The Diavel
I've only done 400 miles so far (1st service 600miles).
But i'm getting just as big a buzz riding at speeds below 100mph, than i was at 100+mph on the S1000RR.

The engine is the full power 1198 testastretta, with 162bhp and 95torgues
The sheer thrust, at any speed in any gear, is amazing. and it sounds gorgeous.

Its also quite light, at 220kg wet.
The brakes are Brembo Monoblocks and are outstanding.
Its very comfortable, not quite GSA, but almost.

And...it goes round corners like you wouldn't believe it could. It aint no S1000RR in the twisties, but its amazing for this type of bike (Power/hyper Cruiser).

Take one for a test ride...you will be surprised.

As a lifelong Ducati fan, I can't find it in me to like the appearance of the Diavel... or in my wallet to afford one!

Didn't you like the red ones? ;)

I would if i didnt think it was the most hideous looking bike ive seen in 20 yrs :D

and thats from someone who owns a GS :blast

As the old saying goes...
One mans muck is another mans Brass...:thumb
I think its one of the most beautiful bike I've ever seen:drool

anyhow, if we all liked the same stuff, it would a boring world.

I love the sports Ducs in red, but I think the Diavel looks best in black.
IMHO the red ones look a bit blingy.:augie

I have read quite a few road tests of these, they all start with the writer questioning the whole thing and finsh with them saying its one of the best things they have ever ridden.

Way out of my price range but would love to try one !

Thanks for the comments fellas (both positive and negative:augie)

It's certainly a bike that divides opinion, and its the colour of Marmite too.

The beast and, er, the beast.....

I do like... I really do, even if I don.t like naked bikes.:D

You are right, it wouldn't do for us all to like the same things. :thumb

All the same, what are Ducati thinking? Did they let the engineers into the design room?
