Sold the F800GS, now have 1200 GSA

If u got a cure let me know, although someone suggested lubricate gear linkage which I've not yet done.. :beerjug:
Hello again :beerjug:

It's not the greatest feeling is it when the bike lurches after dropping out of a gear. Thought I'd broken it first time it happened but since that ride where it happened several times, I've made a conscious effort to positively engage the gears before releasing the clutch and this seems to just about have resolved it as I've only lost gears twice since then. Unlike the 800 where the gearbox was very positive, well it was in my opinion having only missed a gear once in 17k miles, the GSA one seems more vague and needs encouragement. Hopefully it will become second nature soon.

Just ordered a few extra bits to go with it including the top box + pad, Zumo 660 and Sena SMH10 headsets. Should all arrive tomorrow. Decided to get the expensive bits over in one go so I can benefit from day one. Really mounts up though :eek

Really enjoying the GSA and the contrast to the 800. Way more comfortable, doesn't seem as agile and nothing between them in performance as far as I can tell/feel. :thumb2

Hi Blobby,
Don't feel bad! I too had an F800gs and eventually went to the dark side also; got a 1200gs, which I love. Gear shift is smoother than 800 which I found notchy. But to be frank it's all about clutch control and release.
Hi Pete.

I think you're right. I've been working on just that, "clutch control and release", rather than going for the quick-shift it will be fine approach. I'm having to think about it at the mo but so far so good, almost.

I've ridden many many miles on RT's and I now own a 1200GSA twin cam 5k miles and both bikes have jumped out of gear............. when I either rush the gear change or I'm not positive enough.:blast

Some of the RT's I've ridden have jumped out of top during full acceleration, now thats an experience:eek
