That's great - look forward to meeting you!

If not a GS, then what are you riding? (if you dare mention in this public place) :o

There was an instructor from them called Droopy dick real name Christopher Palmer who bought a suit off another site member and never paid up for it avoided all contact with the seller for a long time and never returned it for a very long time as well.
You can read more about it in the link below and judge for yourself

I joined with SAM about 18 month ago to do the IAM course and just recently became an observer with them.
You'll enjoy the slow riding day, it's usually very popular and over subsrcibed.

You'll be fine Paul.
Here's a wee clip of the Observer's doing a part of it.
Alex Gore who intructs the course is on the blue Triumph. He's a retired Class 1 I think.

I picked up a leaflet for these dudes last weekend but can't come along for one of the slow rides for a few weeks. I'm real keen to hear how it goes & what you think of it.

Used to be a member of SAM - and passed my test after some excellent support from Chris Robinson.

Read the other thread and, based on that, the other guy seems like a tw*t of the 1st order.

However, IAM observers are all volunteers, and you get good and bad in all these groups.

I just hope the guys who sign up get the good ones :thumb

No crash helmets...

I know they are not going fast -but they can still fall off during slow riding and bang their heads surely?

very true, we should all have been given detention for that wee bit of naughtyness

It was a good day... I have to admit that I wasn't too sure at first, but as things progressed it got more interesting and I learnt some useful tips.
One of the best things was seeing what is possible - following Alec around ever-sharper turns was a revelation. Unfortunately I couldn't stay till the very end, so not sure what I missed...

Alec was previously an Inspector in Hong Kong police, in charge of 120 Police Motorcyclists! (according to his website at http://www.alecgore.com/)

BTW, re: helmets "... I'm making the choice not to wear a helmet because I consider the slow speeds make it low risk.. we're all grown-ups and you can make your own choice...". Some wore helmets, some didn't - no big deal.

I think it was a good morning - I did learn quite a bit. I was on a new bike, which I was not used to - and a style of bike I am not used to riding - so it was quite challenging in places.

The difficult bit is going to be putting what I learned into practise in my every day riding.
