I took my elderly Day shopping today in Aldi in Selly Oak in Birmingham. He's 93, bless him, and he loves Aldi so I take him when I go to visit him every two or three weeks.

They've got some cracking bike gear in there (and some shit stuff too, like cheapo helmets) but from the selection of good stuff I bought Mrs J and myself a thermal top (long-sleeved) each, a couple of thermal buffs, two pairs of motorbike socks each, and a pair of two piece skins, short sleeved tops and trousers. About £65 for the lot. The quality is actually really, really good. The same stuff at our local bike dealer would've been more than £170 for the lot.

So get down to Aldi, spend a little and live a lot. Yay!

I purchased 2 pairs of the socks, TBH i find they aint long enough for my boots. :(

I'm hoping they have more of the waterproof bag thingies in before my Lake District trip in June :nenau

I tested out one of those t,shirts.
strange feeling at 1st , yer back feels wet/cold , but it isnt?

I wore the t,shirt out yesterday with a fleece over the top, and my bike jacket.

A hard ride out down dirt tracks and through woods , so ye can imagine i got hot.

The t,shirt kept me dry and i wasnt as hot as a regular , t,shirt , with sweat running down ye back.:(

They look a bit gay ,(most new stuff dose these days) but id recomend em for keeping you cool. :thumb

Bought the "windproof turtleneck" top and wore it by itself under my jacket on this weekend's trip to Ireland.
Pretty good - doesn't wick the rain in at the neck and although I'd overestimated the temperature, I survived.
Wore an ordinary T-shirt underneath it after day 1 and it was fine.
