After seaarching various threads on this sit, looking at various websites. Iam now more  than ever.

I need a good comm setup for my 08` gsa.

What i need to know what is the kit i need, i read that autocom seems to be a good bet.
I want to be able to chat to girlfriend on the back, listen to ipod, possible add a zumo in near future.
Phone not important as its a LG VIEWTY and i give up with it. Doesnt want to bluetooth connect with anything. Will be sorting a different phone some other time.
So what does the general opinion believe the best way forward is.
Need to sort something out soon as off to wales to see friends at the end of the month, and girlfriend is coming with me on bike (she`s never been on a bike for a long time and is nervous. So will be good to be able to talk to her)

Thanks all.:thumb2

Having tried ...

... an autocom type system from Intaride, and PMR radios for Bike-to-Bike both separately and via the autocom, I'm sorry to say that the results were at best indifferent. However, I've now tried a Zumo 550 which is linked by Bluetooth to both my phone (Nokia 6500) and Bluetooth headset (Cardo Scala) I have to say, the results are very good. In particular Bike-to-Bike performance is excellent, with fully charged headsets giving good clear comms at 250+ Meters which is very good for Bluetooth. I've also used them for pillion work without the Zumo and they are very good :thumb2

Autocom is awesome

I love my Autocom setup (300 set, bluetooth to phone, MP3 and GPS). Quality is superb and no one knows i am on the bike when i get called on the ride. Bluetooth connection is solid and the sound quality is great. Fair enough you have a lead to your helmet but then there are no batteries and it is very upgradable for bike-to-bike radios. The noise cancelling and noise compensating are good too. I got the autocom cheap last year when they were selling off the old models at half price. Perhaps you might find one still.

I would recommend the Autocom Logic system - simple, not too many knobs and buttons.
Look here http://www.autocom.co.uk/pdf/Logic System.pdf

You would need configuration L2 and that will do for the Zumo and the pillion. Believe when I say that it plenty of power even for wearing with thick foam earplugs. It is not expensive when you consider it will last you at least 10 years or more (folks are successfully selling working 20-year-old systems on e-bay for good money!).

thanks fella`s. Beemerboy that is the answer i was looking for. Being relative new to this side of motorbike riding (comms, sat navs and the like) the simple systems always seem to be the best.
I looked at the autocom seems they are sold out of the logic system as they are about to release a new version.

Thanks again.:thumb2

Hi Horse.

There are some of the old ones still out there.... but not many. I called Balderston's and managed to buy their last Active Duo 200 set which does all that you required (and me likewise) for £99, + £75 for the bluetooth connector. That saved me a bit of money on the new set up. For what I need, and the amount of use it will get, that's cool. :thumb2

Dealers are realising however that there is a market for these. Autocom and selected dealers were doing the 'old' kits at half price, and it's true most are now gone. The ones that have them left seem to be sticking them on Ebay where people seem to be willing to pay more. I saw a kit like mine on there recently which went for £162 without the bluetooth connector. That's still a saving on the original price, and still cheaper than the new stuff. They have another auction o at the moment at

I think it is a shop called Riders of Bristol. It may be worth calling them to see if they will sell you one over the counter at something like a sensible price? As far as I can see from the Autocom booklet, the equivalent new model would cost £221 without bluetooth, so closer to £300 to match what I paid £174 for. That being the case, anything under £200 for the unit might be worth it depending on whether you must have the most up to date kit or not? I hope to be fitting mine this week sometime. Probably. :mmmm

The Logics are the NEW systems I think you meant the Kit 200's btw.

Hi Horse,

I've got the Autocom nicely set up on my GSA - if you like, we can have a quick chat and look at it over the weekend, at Bahnstormer maybe?

Whatever you do or get, setting these things up is very important - a little twiddle of a knob can make the difference between have an easy chat with your girlfriend on the bike, and lots of confused cut short sentences and false vox triggers.

(I think, I may be wrong, that Bahnstormer had some old Autocom units in their bargain bin.... was a while ago though)

Cheers

Mike

Nah - I work in Fleet. Usually only do the Candovers/A339 on weekends. That was until the Winter hibernators woke up again...
