Nothing to do with me, I just came across the page when I was looking for something else, but this site may be of interest to some :beerjug:

Lots of pics and things like this one:

53% of those will have a part changed under warranty because of the perceived corrosion and with a good will statement from the dealer;

36% of those will need a recall to replace a discovered weak component;

19.27% of those will be fitted with upgraded parts, by an independant service company, which where missed by the main dealer;

11.2% will see their 48K service without any complaints.

0% will be on my bike; unless it's an HP2e. :cool:

It's a very nice drawing though. :thumb

WRONG Ditch, 2009 bike no problems whatsoever in 12000 miles, new twin cam & 5000 miles later no problem, sorry to disappoint !!!

Like the use of the word 'Exploded' in the title :D

Saying that didn't have that much bother with my 1200's

On a minor anarak point, thetechnique of drawing like this was first used on aircraft. It was pioneered / invented by the same guy who use to draw all the 50's horror movie posters such as Attack of 50Ft Woman. Chap was Reynold Brown.................... god I,m sad, time for an 1150:D:D

Yeah ... I noted that Bryn, and smiled :D

Hey, Bill, can ya find a similar diagram for the 1200 drive shaft, bevel box, final drive and bearings etc.

I'm sure the 1200 owners will want to know what going on down there ;)

.... or not going on :eek:

For you my little bundle of happiness, anything :thumb2

This is the drive shaft itself, with what a technical type might call the UJ half way along (that's a very important part Micky, it lets the 1200 rider swivel around at all sorts of angles that us mere 11xx riders couldn't hope to achieve, let alone you oddballs who like being driven by a chain!)

You'll note a distinct bend in the shaft itself.....that's designed to fit snugly into the bottom of the swingarm :rob

I can't help you out on photos of Bev's box I'm afraid, forum rules prevent me, but if you care to look on Google, you'll find many hundreds of photos, ranging from the fully lubricated (With various types of oil, don't ask!) to the exploded in quite some detail.

You'll also find some that have stripped down and treated with wax (acf50 i think) , used ones and leaking ones as well.....I can only presume that their gaskets must have let by (known technically as a 'squirter') or they have simply been over lubricated :nenau

There are several sizes available of course, the largest of which (as you'd expect) is standard equipment on the 1200 adv....

Final drive and bearings I'll come back to you on that one unless someone else finds the pics first :thumb

Post of the day for me, that had me in tears. Thanks.:D

:eek: :eek:

I've got some rubber bits in my back end Bill but I don't think they're latex or anything posh like what you have shown :nenau

They're there to absorb the sheer power and smooth the delivery to my contact patch ;)
